Monarch Hospice has been a God send to my family. We chose Monarch Hospice for my grandmother at the recommendation of the hospital in Woodland. After a very bad experience with another hospice company both my mom & grandma were very apprehensive about meeting anyone from hospice. However, within the first five minutes of us meeting Bre during the admission, we knew we were in great hands! Bre patiently listened to our problems & quickly found the problematic medication & had it changed right there & then. Ordered the potable oxygen machine we needed & we had it before the end of the day. The very next day we met my grandmas nurse Karena. Karena is a doll! She is patient & caring. She always listens, even when my grandma repeats her same story 3 times. My grandmother absolutely adores her Home Health Aide Tia. Tia is so respectful, gentle and kind! From the very first call, all of the Monarch staff have been nothing short of amazing. They have really went above & beyond to make myself, my mom & most importantly my grandmother feel heard, understood & truly cared for. I know my grandma has an excellent team on her side as things progress. I know I can trust them to be there & do everything they can for her. It is such a heavy weight lifted off my heart knowing we have all these great woman only a phone call away if we need anything. I don't know what we would have done without Monarch Hospice. My entire family is so thankful to everyone at Monarch. We have entrusted them with our most precious Abuelita and they have exceeded our expectations at every turn. Thank you Monarch Team!

Monarch Hospice was a light in a dark time for our family. My father-in-law was bot doing well and they brought him soo much joy in his final months. He was smiling more, his wounds were healing, and he was more himself than he had ever been. They were there at all hours for us, and treated us like family. My husband and I want to thank Monarch from the bottom of our hearts as well as everyone who played a role in his care. Thank you Kenzi, Karena, Tia, Alex, the bishop, and wound doctor! You all hold a special place in our hearts. We may not always remember names but your faces, care, and kindness will never be forgotten. If it is time for your love one to transition to hospice, we 1000% recommend Monarch.

Our family had the privilege of using Monarch Hospice for home care during our loved one's illness. The entire staff was professional, responded to and answered all of our questions in a timely manner, and provided supplies right away. All of the staff who provided in-home visits were great, but in particular, Tia was an absolute blessing to our family. She treated our loved one with love, respect, and gentleness. We were thrilled with their services. We recommend them with confidence.

They have wowed us at every turn. Watching them listen, support & care for my grandma and even my mom right now has made my heart so full. My grandma is actually doing better than before she was on hospice. I have known Terri for years. When my close friend needed Hospice care she was the first person I called. They jumped into action and made sure everything was taken care of immediately and even navigated a tough family situation. Hospice care is scary for anyone especially if you have never dealt with it before. The nurses were competent and understanding in this hard time and provided comfort and the ability for my friend to pass in her home with her family, loved ones and dogs. I would recommend Monarch to anyone needing services. Making a difficult time a little less stressful is key and lets the families spend the last bit of time they can with their loved ones vs stressing. Thank you Terri and Monarch.

Testimonials
“In life’s most sacred moments, when time stands still and all that matters is love, there are angels who walk among us. The team at Monarch Hospice and Palliative Care Sacramento in Sacramento were those angels for my family.
I lost my grandmother on Tuesday. In my grandmother’s final days, they surrounded her with tenderness, grace, and dignity. They didn’t just care for her, they honored her. And in doing so, they gave our family the precious gift of peace during a time of heartbreaking transition. For that, I am forever grateful.
My grandmother was a pillar in my life. She taught me how to lead with compassion and fight with quiet strength. As a little girl, I remember sitting at her feet, watching her hands create beauty from scratch, quilts, meals, cinnamon rolls, and lessons in love. She never needed a spotlight. Her light just was. And I carry that light with me every day.
Her legacy lives in every bold step I take, every patient I fight for, and every young woman I mentor. She made me believe I could be more, and because of her, I am.
Thank you, Monarch Hospice and Palliative Care Sacramento for seeing the greatness in my grandmother and treating her with the same reverence she gave to the world. You didn’t just ease her pain. You held our hearts. And I will never forget that.
The evening my grandmother passed, the hospice nurse sat with my mom and I. She didn’t rush, she just sat and reminded us, our family can utilize their chaplains, social work team, and bereavement resources for the next year. She shared we can call them anytime and receive support.
Losing the matriarch of our family was a pain I can’t put into words. As we grieve, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the angels on earth that help us through these moments.
Love you, always, Gramma Mary.” - Cornia B
First I want to give a special thanks to Bre from Monarch Hospice & Palliative care of Sacramento for checking off all the boxes of my concerns I had entering into hospice.
As most everyone knows by now I’m on hospice care. I made a very difficult decision about a month ago to enter to hospice care due to my struggles with air hunger. In the short time I have been on hospice care I have been shocked at the level of outstanding care I get on a day to day basis.
Monarch Hospice care prioritizes maintaining dignity and comfort for me. Doing this with dignity was very important to me. They have given me compassionate warmth and care from day one till now.
Dignity in hospice care also involves respecting the patient's preferences, protecting their privacy, and ensuring they feel valued and respected. Monarch Hospice has definitely accomplished that with my care.
Many people misunderstand hospice care, leading them to believe it's a negative experience with an ending in death. Misconceptions include the idea that hospice is only for the very end stages of life, that it means giving up on treatment, or that it involves a decline in care quality. Many people perceive hospice as a way to simply accept death and stop fighting, which can be emotionally difficult. Some individuals fear losing control over their medical decisions and the pace of their care when they enter hospice. I learned real quick that was not true whatsoever. Anyone who truly knows me knows I am a fighter 100%.
My main concern when I decided to make this huge move was: Are they going to be COPD friendly? Are we going to butt heads over and over?
Monarch hospice came into my home on April 11th, 2025 and began a intake report on me and by the time my intake nurse (Bre Pauley Director of Nursing) was finish I had every question checked off that I needed answers too. Bre showed me so much warmth and care from the second she enter my home until the moment she departed. They believe in embracing life and honoring every individual’s unique journey.
Was I scared? Yes, very much so. I just entered into a care system I knew nothing about. I didn’t want to be seen as having that fear that hospice care represents a "giving up" on treatment and a loss of control over my own care.
So on the 14th of April my new hospice nurse arrived at my home. Annika Tamaki is her name. Annika ensure me that hospice patients never have to feel alone or unattended, because they have a 24/7 service from day one. Along with the intake nurse Bre, Annika addressed my needs and began developing a care plan trailered to my illness. Annika pointed out that I would be given medications to help manage my pain and air hunger so I could live comfortably going forward.
Annika jump right in day one and took over getting me the proper equipment I needed. I learned that by accepting a move into hospice that my regular oxygen company Supercare was parting ways with me because I was going into hospice care. That was a real shocker to me. I could not as a patient understand why they would do that to any medical patient, but I learned later it was all about money. Well Annika got right on it and I had a new oxygen company in one days’ time. She really did take the fear and anxiety away immediately.
Annika also discuss emotional and spiritual wellbeing with me. She ensured me that her goal for me was comfort and quality of life. She made it clear that it my pace and not Monarch’s pace. That was all I needed to hear as a patient wanting to get better.
Since my first visit with Annika I now have an aide who all so comes to my home (Krystal Battiste) who will be helping with bathing, and applying medication to my legs and arms. I truly feel blessed to have been given a super group of nurses, aides, Chaplin and social worker to help my journey be not a little easier, but rather a lot easier.
Hospice care can be a difficult step, but it’s designed to support patients and their families during the most challenging times. I am here to tell everyone reading this message this morning that Monarch Hospice Care is the right care for any COPD patient thinking about entering into care or who really needs support and comfort ASAP.
I can say without a doubt that Monarch Hospice and Palliative Care Focus on My Comfort and Quality of Life:
Hospice care prioritizes managing symptoms like pain, nausea, and shortness of breath to enhance the patient's overall well-being. I am in great hands with Monarch and I hope all my northern California followers really take a good look at Monarch Hospice when thinking about going into Hospice care.
I am a fighter and have been since day one of my COPD journey. Believe me when i say I am not giving up and even though I am in hospice; which is where I know with all my heart I need to be, I am and will continue to fight for my breaths.
Remember: COPD is what it is until it isn’t. I hope your all having an breathe easy kind of a day today. God Bless!
Hey do something for me today if your reading this. Be that reason someone smiles today.
